Calcification In Lungs Tb
Help with tuberculosis can be shown from the chest radiograph, would this be critical?
Reports state that there is a provided small irregular calcification in the left middle zone consistent with an old granuloma. No features suggestive of active infection. Also ticks in the "Evidence of tuberculosis" and "present", the lung fields as "abnormal" This is the result for my mother is around 62 years of age. Anyone have any similar condition before? How serious is this? I havent been able to contact my mom. Talk to her about it tonight and make an appointment for the GP. I am very worried. Meanwhile, any comments / experience is welcome. Thanks in advance!
Well, The bad news is that it does sound like latent tuberculosis. She most likely started on a regiment of 6-9 months of isoniazid plus vitamin B6 to treat it. The good news, however, it sounds latent, which means that all the time you receive the treatment I have described, will not be reactivated. Reactivation TB is the most problematic and cause coughing up blood, weight loss, fever and organ damage. It is rare that this happens, so long as it starts and joins the regiment isoniazid/B6, she be fine.
